Coach Adrian Completes Internship at Middlesbrough FC

Recently, Coach Adrian had the incredible opportunity to complete a football coaching internship at Middlesbrough FC’s training base, Rockliffe Park, located in the beautiful village of Hurworth-on-Tees near Darlington.

The experience was nothing short of fantastic. The coaches at Middlesbrough were extremely open, generous with their time, and eager to share their knowledge. It was inspiring to see first-hand how a professional academy operates, not just on the pitch, but behind the scenes where so much of a player’s development truly happens.

The training sessions on the pitch displayed outstanding football talent, but the true foundation of a player’s development is built far beyond match day routines. Physical conditioning, mental resilience, tactical understanding, strong team relationships, and trust between players and coaches are all forged off the field. This vital behind the scenes work, carried out by a dedicated and skilled team, plays a crucial role in shaping future professionals.

The internship also boosted Adrian’s confidence as a coach. It confirmed that he’s already heading in the right direction in many aspects of his work, while also highlighting the areas that need continuous improvement to one day work in an academy of this calibre.

Reflecting on the experience, Coach Adrian summed it up simply: “It’s given me even more motivation to keep developing as a coach and to aim for the standards I saw at Middlesbrough. It was a privilege to learn from some of the best.”
